Our corporate volunteering program

Activate, connect & engage

BeachPatrol's corporate volunteering program supports organisations in achieving their corporate social responsibility & sustainability goals. Activating colleagues in pursuit of a common goal is a great way to connect and build strong teams. Not to mention the positive impact on the environment!

"Thank you so much for a great and eye opening day! In my personal life I am so much more conscious of my behaviour and in our professional life we are motivated to make a difference!"

We can host education sessions about plastic litter and its impact to our environment and marine life.

We can also take staff out on a beach or street litter surveying experience. During these exercises your employees work in small groups along the beach or street to record the litter using BeachPatrol survey sheets. At the end of the survey the sheets are collated and the teams spend time categorising and documenting the litter picked up in that session. This provides a great engagement opportunity and raises awareness around how to reduce common problem waste items.

A non-tax deductible donation is requested to support BeachPatrol's ongoing operational costs. For more details on our Corporate program, please download the brochure here.

Many thanks to the 4 volunteers who helped clean litter from New Beach, Port Melbourne.  Although the rubbish collected didn't weiigh much, 1121 pieces were removed in the space of about an hour.  Of note, 396 small hard pieces of plastic, 281 nurdles and 138 microplastics were removed and won't be ingested by seabirds, fish or dolphins.  Great effort by three pairs of hands!

20 Oct 2023 Macquarie 50

An enthusiastic group came out to help clean and audit litter found on 2 Port Melbourne beaches today near Princes Pier.  After an hour, the group had collected 5663 pieces, including 1253 hard small (less than 50mm in size) plastic fragments and 1374 nurdles. Although these items are small, they are commonly ingested by fish, seabirds and other marine life; therefore, removing them from our beaches/environment is vitally important.  Thanks to the team from MacQuarie for their efforts!

30 Jun 2023 Gentrack 8

Thanks to these volunteers from Gentrack who cleaned up a section of St Kilda beach. They removed over 1200 plastic items, plus lots of paper waste and tissues from this popular beach. Their efforts directly protect the Little Penguin colony and other sea creatures.

Most common items included food wrappers (242), small soft plastic fragments (167) and large soft plastic fragments (129) - if penguins use these in their burrows/nests, their eggs won't be kept warm and breeding will fail. Over 200 small and large hard plastic fragments were collected: if ingested, these can cause severe and painful internal injuries to sea birds or other creatures; potentially fatal.

Plastic straws and cutlery are still being collected, despite the ban in February. Hopefully fewer soon.

Once more, thank you to this company for giving volunteer time to help protect our environment.
