Plastic Free Bay Report: Bay Beach Litter Audit Findings and Plastic Pellet Pollution - Supporting Evidence from Seaford BeachPatrol’s Plastic Pellet Project - Nurdle Anymore!

Compiled by the Port Phillip EcoCentre the report draws on extensive citizen science and identifies Seaford beaches as a plastic litter hotspot — not because it is uniquely worse, but because it has been rigorously counted. Local efforts led by 3198 Seaford BeachPatrol established Kananook as a formal audit site and supplied a dataset that helped shape the report’s findings.

The launch of Plastic Free Bay Report also featured the inaugural Nurdle Cup — organised by Port Phillip Baykeeper Neil Blake — that brought volunteers from across the Bay together (including Warrnambool BeachPatrol, Caufield Love Our Street and Seaford BeachPatrol).

The friendly competition made a serious point: pellet leakage is preventable if industry “picks up the broom.”
