Airport West is home to Steele Creek, a minor tributary to the Maribyrnong River. Our suburb is called “the golden triangle” as we are surrounded on three sides by freeways. Rubbish from the freeways, exit ramp traffic and our streets washes down the drain or blows into our suburb and creek. The rubbish is not only an eyesore, it is also polluting Steele Creek, which flows into the mighty Maribyrnong River before contaminating Port Philip Bay.  We are aslo covering Steel creek in Niddrie and Keilor Park.

Love Our Street Airport West is the first group to be formed in the municipality of Moonee Valley, and it is hoped other groups will be inspired to join so we can create a chain of clean up sites across the municipality. Working together along the creek will ensure we can better protect it, our bay and our sea life from pollution.

This is a great opportunity for Airport West and surrounding residents to meet their neighbours, clean up our streets and creek and have a coffee afterwards. Everyone is welcome including children (under 15 must be accompanied by an adult). Our planet will thank us for it!
