LOS 3150 Glen Waverley

Love Our Street 3150 Glen Waverley.

Love Our Street 3150 was set up in response to concern about how litter from our local streets is affecting the wider environment, apart from being unsightly. LOS3150 aims to bring the local community together to look after our environment, to keep our streets clean and stop litter getting into our creeks, canals, onto the beach and the ocean.

We aim to support the work of BeachPatrol by dealing with litter close to the source. We meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month for one hour from 9:30am to 10:30 am and then enjoy a get together in a local cafe. Locations for the clean ups will be advised. Please see our Facebook page, Love Our Street 3150, for more information. Everyone is welcome!

November Clean by 3150@loveourstreet.com.au

A big thanks to the six volunteers who came on a very overcast day to clean around O'Sullivan Road/Snedden Drive, Glen Waverley. We were very fortunate to have a mostly dry window for our clean. Because of the heavy rain and winds in the previous days, much of what was on the streets and roads would have unfortunately been blown and washed into the storm water system.

Apart from the usual litter, we also found a new-looking Apple laptop and accessories in a bag thrown into the bushes around one of the car parks. Who knows how it got there, but it has been handed into the local police station who will hopefully be able to contact the owner and get it returned.

Thanks to everyone who came, for helping to care for our local and wider environment. Every little bit of litter removed from the environment counts!

LOS3150 Mount Street Trial Clean Oct 2019 by 3150@loveourstreet.com.au

Three members did a trial clean based in Mount Street, Glen Waverley to look at the suitability of adding this site into our schedule for next year. This site is being considered because of the high foot traffic coming from the station and appears to be a good candidate!

LOS3150 October Clean by 3150@loveourstreet.com.au

Eight  volunteers came out on a lovely spring morning (although it was slightly smelly due to an overflowing sewerage pipe nearby!)  to help clean the streets around Bogong Avenue and Myrtle Street in Glen Waverley. We also welcomed a new member - thank you for your interest and hopefully we will see you at future events. Thank you everyone for your efforts; every piece of litter removed from the street is one less that can enter the stormwater system and make it's way to the creeks and bays. As usual, there were plenty of cigarettre butts (1750) that were picked up, many from the garden beds in the street and around the multi storey car park on Bogong Avenue.
