LOS 3150 Glen Waverley

Love Our Street 3150 Glen Waverley.

Love Our Street 3150 was set up in response to concern about how litter from our local streets is affecting the wider environment, apart from being unsightly. LOS3150 aims to bring the local community together to look after our environment, to keep our streets clean and stop litter getting into our creeks, canals, onto the beach and the ocean.

We aim to support the work of BeachPatrol by dealing with litter close to the source. We meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month for one hour from 9:30am to 10:30 am and then enjoy a get together in a local cafe. Locations for the clean ups will be advised. Please see our Facebook page, Love Our Street 3150, for more information. Everyone is welcome!

LOS3150 January Clean by 3150@loveourstreet.com.au

We had a very quiet start to the New Year with many people away on holidays, but we made an impact with the amount of litter cleaned around the streets surrounding Glen Waverley Secondary College and Glen Waverley train station. Items picked up included several dumped items of bedding which will be repurposed as cleaning rags and a useable windscreen shade which has been cleaned up and put to use!

December Street Clean by 3150@loveourstreet.com.au

Seven volunteers, including two new members, helped to clean the area around Bogong Avenue and Myrtle Street, Glen Waverley. The streets appeared quite clean initially although the area around the Centrelink offices had a fair amount of litter. There weren't as many cigarette butts as expected, but we still managed to pick up 1,250, bringing our total for the year to 14,000.

November Clean by 3150@loveourstreet.com.au

A big thanks to the six volunteers who came on a very overcast day to clean around O'Sullivan Road/Snedden Drive, Glen Waverley. We were very fortunate to have a mostly dry window for our clean. Because of the heavy rain and winds in the previous days, much of what was on the streets and roads would have unfortunately been blown and washed into the storm water system.

Apart from the usual litter, we also found a new-looking Apple laptop and accessories in a bag thrown into the bushes around one of the car parks. Who knows how it got there, but it has been handed into the local police station who will hopefully be able to contact the owner and get it returned.

Thanks to everyone who came, for helping to care for our local and wider environment. Every little bit of litter removed from the environment counts!
