3196 Beach Patrol - Chelsea

Chelsea beach is part of the ‘long beach’ that stretches from Mentone right down to Frankston. It attracts many visitors all year round who fail to be unimpressed by the stunning beach, whether in gorgeous sunshine or harsh rain.

While areas of the beach are groomed by machine, lots of litter remains. Some items of rubbish that have been found include used needles, car parts, rusty bottle lids as well as lots of component plastic parts. Our aim is to make the beach as safe as we can for all members of the public to enjoy without the threat of standing on hazardous waste. We also aim to reduce the impact of human activity on the natural flora and fauna of the Chelsea foreshore and Port Philip Bay.

12 volunteers turned up at Chelsea by the Yacht club to help remove 13.3kg of rubbish off the beach

After a break over March we had 11 volunteers and we removed 24.1kg of rubbish off Edithvale beach

3196 February Clean by 3196@beachpatrol.com.au

20 volunteers hit the sand at Bonbeach to take 52kg of rubbish off the beach.  One member found some tools, possibly stolen so after we had finished a trip to the cop shop followed.  Hope they find their way home!
