3018Beachpatrol Altona Beaches

Altona Beach Patrol      Watch our Launch Video.  It's great!

Altona Beach forms the southern boundary of the town of Altona, with the Esplanade paralleling the beach. The beach is crossed by the 500 m long Altona Pier. The beach runs roughly east-west for 3 km from the point at Frazer Reserve, past the town to the western drainage channel, called Laverton Creek. There are also picnic areas in foreshore reserves at either end of the beach. The beach is widest near the pier, but narrows west of the groyne, which is located 100 m past the pier. Intertidal and subtidal sand flats front the beach, requiring a long wade to reach deep water.

There's the pier, the park, the white sand and long sweeps of panoramic beach. What's not to like about Altona?. This has to be the undiscovered gem of Melbourne.. Lots of cafes. The family friendly outdoor recreation destination for Melbourne

3018 Altona BP Clean up by 3018@beachpatrol.com.au

Another clean up done for October thanks to 30 big and small volunteers. We had a slightly smaller catch in kilos, but all those plastic wrappers make a big mess, even if they weigh next to nothing! We also found 1,750 cigarette butts and close to 50 containers (bottle and cans). Well done all!

Our next 3018 Altona cleanup will be on Sunday 10 November, so if you feel like joining in, come find us from 3-4pm on the corner of Pier Street and Esplanade.
