We had a great team turn out this weekend at Elwood Beach. The weather was beautiful and the team worked hard! Well done to all for collecting 15kg of landfill rubbish, 15 drinks containers and countless plastic fragments. This is all now off the beach and away from the marine environment! Great work!

Our next clean is on Saturday 16 March at 9am at the Point Ormond end of the beach. Between now and then we have Clean up Australia day on the first weekend of March. There are two local cleans you can participate in. LoveOurStreet Elwood will clean up on Saturday 2 March at 9.30am, meeting on the corner of Mitford Street and Poets Grove near Elwood Primary.

On Sunday 3 March LoveOurStreet Balaclava will be hosting a clean up around Balaclava Station at 9.30am, meeting by the station on Carlisle Street.

We had a phenomenal turn out last Saturday at Head Street jetty as we set out to achieve a record breaking year! Thanks to the many new faces, including kids. We love your enthusiasm. It's great to see a mix of faithful regulars and newcomers, particularly during the busy summer when our beach cops a lot of litter. This is a great sign that more and more people want to take action to care for our environment!

On the positive/negative side, depending which way you look at it, we collected 43kg of litter. It's sad that there is just so much out there on our beach but it's an astounding effort to keep all that trash out of the bay, away from birds, fish and other marine life. Well done team!

Our team brought their Christmas sparkle for our last clean of 2018, at the Point Ormond end of the beach. After many severe rain storms the beach really needed some TLC and the BP3184 team delivered! Thank you to all of our volunteers, newbies and regulars alike for leaving the beach some 25kg lighter. There were so many little nasties like micro-plastics and cigarette butts that we groomed from the sand. Great work! Our end of year post-clean morning tea was well earned. Thanks to our wonderful team, it's been another great year! See you on 19 January at the Head Street jetty for a 9am start.

This morning the chilly winter wind did not deter our committed team of volunteers.  We were rewarded with glorious sunshine and were reminded just how beautiful our beach and the bay can be.  Thanks to all, new recruits and regulars alike, as we combined forces today to make our beach cleaner and safer for marine life and the local community.  While
the amount of litter collected was low in weight, it was high in potential harm factor due to most of it being little fragments of plastic/ polystyrene.  Taking this sort of rubbish away from the bay is critical to the health of marine life.  Well done!
