Love Our Street 3183 & 3185 Individual cleans April 2020
Though group cleans are suspended during COVID-19, members continue their efforts to protect our environment. Numerous reports have been logged using the Litter Stopper app. Recent rains mean litter has heavily impacted our beaches, so our work to remove this menace from our streets means less flows through the storm water system to the sea. Thank you to our members.

All Beach Patrol and Love Our Street cleans for every group are suspended until the Coronavirus COVID-19 threat eases and the government gives the all-clear for community activities to restart.
If you are able to get outdoors to do an individual clean, please ensure you use strong gloves and tongs or a reacher. Have soap and water where you can wash your hands at the end of the clean. Clean down all door and car door handles.
Please use our LItter Stopper app, free to download, and report what you collect to the closest group.
Stay safe and well everyone. Hope to see you when we can all be out together to keep our environment litter free.

LOS 3183 & 3185 Ripponlea: last clean for 2019

A small, but happy band braved the chilly wind and soon warmed up as we cleaned Balaclava. Our haul totalled 12.5 kg: 200 butts (bringing the annual total to over 12,000), 32 bottles and cans, one syringe. Thanks for a great effort over the year everyone. Thanks to Las Chicas for the warming drinks.

LOS 3183 & 3185 Balaclava & Ripponlea Oct 2019

A small group of determined volunteers spent an hour collecting litter near Balaclava Station and shops. People came and went at different times, so no people pic today. We collected 4 kg of litter, including 800 cigarette butts (plastic), lots of other small pieces of plastic and confectionery wrappers. That's over 11,000 butts so far this year!

The photo shows what was collected from one of the pits around one single street tree near the station: 63 butts and half a bag of other rubbish, much of it plastic.

Two casual cleans by one volunteer totalling three and a half hours netted 7 kg of litter: 6 bags full including 10 CDS containers and over 480 cigarette butts.

Quat Quatta Avenue had significant impact from plastic "ticker tape" possibly after an event.

Glen Eira Road between Brighton and Orrong Roads had large and small chunks of polystyrene and lots of confectionery wrapper fragments.
