Love Our Street 3185 & 3185 - Balaclava Community Clean

A determined band braved the chilly start and achieved a massive haul of 38 kg of litter in Balaclava: 1500 cigarette butts and lots of bottles (mainly from back lanes). This rubbish will now not be loose in the environment. Thank you to the crew!

Two casual cleans by one volunteer totalling three and a half hours netted 7 kg of litter: 6 bags full including 10 CDS containers and over 480 cigarette butts.

Quat Quatta Avenue had significant impact from plastic "ticker tape" possibly after an event. 

Glen Eira Road between Brighton and Orrong Roads had large and small chunks of polystyrene and lots of confectionery wrapper fragments.

Love Our Street 3183 & 3185 Balaclava 2 June 2019

The chill morning that threatened turned out to be merely a bit cool. Our determined members removed over 11 kg of waste from the streets and carparks of Balaclava, including 33 drink bottles and cans and over 1600 cigarette butts.

LOS 3185 & 3183 Ripponlea Feb 2019

Seven volunteers collected over 2 kilograms of litter: mostly small fragments that become very mobile in wind or rain events. As ever, cigarette butts were the most common item: 950 collected today.

Love Our Street 3183 & 3185 December 2018

A cool morning at a busy time of year. The area on the eastern side of the station got our attention:

4 kg of litter removed including a scooter frame that had been cut up, 700 cigarette butts and 5 drink bottles and cans.

Every little bit counts.

Gorgeous morning. Our group collected 4 kg of litter in an hour from streets near William St Reserve - 1200 cigarette butts, 19 drink containers that could be returned if only Vic government had one.

Well done crew - our suburb is cleaner, our bay creatures are spared this rubbish and the gardens planted with the help of local volunteers won't be spoilt by litter.
