A small crew today removed 114kilos of litter from the streets and carpark around Werribee Train Station. Thank you Arnold, Peter, Cathy, Lisa, Brenda & Luciana for helping to shift 4 shopping trolleys (all taken back to their various stores), a massive amount of op-shop gear that was dumped outside the charity bins (that was not suitable for those particular bins), some e-waste, furniture, around 2000 cigarett butts, a few dozen straws and 55 bottles and cans. If you think we enjoy doing this - WRONG. This site is a disgrace and despite some improvements, the area continues to be trashed. We can do better Werribee!! And happy birthday Ted - 13 today! Hope you have a great day.

Today we cleaned around Comben Drive, back of Watton Street shops and along the Werribee River. 27 volunteers removed 130 kilos of litter, including 202 bottles and cans, 18 syringes, a huge pile of building cable, a couple of chairs and large pieces of cardboard. Great turn out, with plenty of families getting involved.

Today the Love Our Street 3030 team included 13 adults, 6 children and 1 baby and we cleaned around the Werribee River, behind the Watton Street shops and several of the city car parks.

Together we removed a whopping 293 kilos of litter from our city. A lot of this was building supplies, with 60kilos of tiles, 40 kilos of roofing panels, several pallets & some scrap metal. It would seem the enforcement of the rules that apply to builders/renovators is pretty slack. According to John Forrester, the Werribee Riverkeeper, who joined us today, a lot of these building supplies have been on site for sometime.

The kids had a great time and enjoyed the free share of sunglasses Lisa bought along kindly donated by her neighbour. Morning snacks went down a treat, thanks to some extras provided by Alicia.

With such a big haul from the Werribee City Centre, the Wyndham City rubbish collectors were a little shocked with the amount the Love Our Street 3030 team collected today.

Thanks you Love Our Street 3030 team:

Courtney, Trish, Felix, Ebony, (baby Felix), Shellianne, Donna, Meg, Graham, Keven, Lisa, Rosey, Brooke, Sophie, Violet, John, Arnold, Alicia, Cobus and Edith.

Very successful clean up in the new Riverwalk Estate. 16 volunteers (many children) managed to collect an enormous 263kgs of litter from this site that when it rain, feeds into the Werribee River. The figures are a bit alarming and include 68kgs of plastic, 45kgs of cardboard, 30kg of styrofoam, and only 7.5kg of food type containers, with only 20 bottles and cans. This is rubbish is clearly from the building of new housing estates, even though this site was cleaned around Christmas by the developers. Thanks WRivA Science Officer for getting us down to this location.

12 volunteers collected about 2 cubic metres of litter, weighing 65kilos, with 260 containers. We also collected 7 shopping trolleys, about 4000 cigarette butts, 50+ straws, some electronic waste, an uncountable amount of syringe containers and syringes - probably between 30-50, and a collection of perfectly good reusable times: small watering can, hand towels, toilet holders, rubbish bins, shower caddy, water spray bottle, apron, and a full can of oven cleaner!

17 volunteers came along to collect 63 kilos of litter around the Piazza and in front of the Werribee River. There was a lot of large pieces of plastic, some building items, half a broken chair from one of the shops and 122 bottles and cans were collected. These could have been cashed in if Victoria had a cash for container scheme.

16 volunteers helped to remove 113 kilos of litter, including 113 bottles and cans. Some of the volunteers also spread some mulch around a new site that we hope to plant out next year, continuing with the work to beautify the station. Ms Butt joined us for a boogie and reminded our smokers to use the ashtray.
