A huge thanks to everyone at the beach clean last Saturday! A super effort by everyone this month on the beach near the Beaumaris Life Savers Club, Ricketts Point on 1 June.
There were 21 volunteers and together we collected 23 bags of rubbish in total, roughly 55 Kg of litter. A lot of recyclables were collected this month mostly found in the foreshore vegetation areas and near the car parks; 48 glass bottles, 15 plastic bottles and 57 cans!
The main items we found were plastic chip & confectionery bags, plastic fragments, cigarette butts (roughly 340). There was also quite a lot of straws, and bottle tops. Other items were a frisbee, clothing, scrap metal, a door mat, tennis balls, rope, plastic tubing and a nappy.
