Over 30 people turned up to our November Beach Patrol, on a beautiful 21°C day – balmy with a light wind – so good to see so many smiling faces.  One of youngest members, Maya, managed to rescue a ladybird – it seemed quite happy to stay with her for quite a while after that.

Others managed to collect a heap of rubbish – may bottles this time, and, as is usual here, quite a lot of fishing line and cigarette butts.  There were also bricks, parts of old metal chairs, and some very old bottles.

The final score:

Thirty-two people collected 79kg of rubbish. Over 37 bags were filled, with 1027 cigarette butts, 92 glass bottles, 50 plastic bottles and 26 aluminium cans.

Cigarette butts, plastic fragments, and fishing line were the most commonly collected items.
