Spectacular turn out at this month's special clean up with Clean Up Australia Day. A gorgeous morning and such a calm sea!! Many thanks to everyone's efforts and doing such a great job. We had over 40 volunteers help clean up the beach near Beaumaris Yacht Club. Everyone together managed to collect 17 bags of litter, roughly 34 Kg in weight.
It was lovely to see some familiar faces, lots of kids and a few extra's to help for Clean up Australia Day. A huge thank you for all your hard work!
Most common items were plastic fragments, cigarette butts and polystyrene material, many people noticed high volumes of these items near the car parks and the storm-water drain outlets. Other items found in large quantities were straws, bottle tops, dog poo and bags, and confectionery/chip packets.
