8 Mentone Beach Patrollers were on duty for our October clean up. The beach was raked for rubbish the day befofe and also with a windy day
there was little little litter that remained on the sandy part of the beach to collect.
The good thing about Mentone Beach though is that we still have a fair amount of vegetation so the litter can get trapped before it gets blown
out into the bay. So this month we collected the smaller things from the beach like cigarette butts, polystyrene beads, nurdles etc or headed for the scrub.
All up we collected 11 bags of rubbish weighing 23.8 kgs and most importantly all the data is being recorded amongst all the beach patrol groups
and as one big team we aim to make a difference in community attitudes.
